artist profile: Ava Lenhard

My name is Ava and I am a conceptual artist. I define the essence of my works through applying mixed media. I am keeping something to myself whilst openly expressing something I am keeping to myseIf. I experiment with the concept of change referring to liquids because they, like us, never stay the same. I work interdisciplinary with the aim of opening up new perspectives on contemporary issues and I plan to create a path from the analytical source of scientific data to the artistic metaphor.
To me, art, philosophy and science are inextricably linked. Their power can be most aptly represented metaphorically. Metaphors create connections that may not have been considered yet; they can link political challenges, scientific findings and personal perspectives. Where research develops visions that need to be communicated, it can be poetic. Poetry, in turn, can connect with science. My aim is to explore metaphors as a deductive approach to reality.
Work shown: “The earth’s heartbeat”
Satellite Data reveals that the Earth has a heartbeat. My piece is based on satellite tracking of global plant photosynthesis patterns. I transform this invisible heartbeat of the Earth into a poetic audio-visual experience. The soundscape is envelopes converted from satellite recordings combined with the Schumann-resonance. My approach bridges art, science, sustainability, and philosophy. I use projection mapping based on analog liquid experiments.
